Please understand that the hike to Rainbow Mountain is challenging. It has steep inclines and altitude reaching over 5000 meters above sea level (16400 feet above sea level). It takes around 1.5 to two hours each way to reach the summit. This however depends on your fitness level and pace.

This is a high altitude experience. We highly recommend that before you plan to visit Rainbow Mountain in Peru, you spend 3-4 days in Cusco acclimatizing to avoid altitude sickness.

Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Tour

Your epic Vinicunca Mountain Peru Tour begins with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Cusco City. We will be embarking on a two and a half hour drive to the Cusipata community. We will be stopping here for breakfast.

After relishing a typical Andean breakfast, we will be driving you for an hour to the starting point of the trek.

Our local expert will be sharing some useful tips on hiking the Andes. All set, we will begin with a gradual hike up the hill passing plenty of remote communities. Our guide will be giving you an insight into their way of life here.

Throughout the hike, you will be getting a view of the mighty Ausangate Mountain. It is the highest peak in the Cusco region and dominates the southern skyline of Cusco on a clear day. 

Once we reach the emblematic Rainbow Mountain, you will have plenty of time to soak in the views and immerse in the serenity of the Andes. 

Once you have contemplated the view and had a fill of this alluring sight, we will begin our hike down the hill back to the starting point to the trek.
